Isabella Patrick Interiors, Inc. is a Manhattan based residential interior design studio.
We create bright and beautiful spaces through a creative use of materials and color, by providing an approachable environment within which to navigate the many design options available today. We encourage and support our clients to be brave and daring while guiding them toward a design that is unique, unmatched and a true reflection of themselves.
In the same way that we communicate with each other in words and gestures, our homes communicate something to those who enter, and to those who reside in them.
We design with the intention of giving our clients ease and joy and their daily lives — The homes we create are the support system for this.

I’m the founder and lead designer at Isabella Patrick Interiors. I have always dreamt of being an interior designer, but the path to get here was not a direct one! Read my full story below.

chapter 1
from the start
I have been drawn to creating and curating interior spaces since I was just a kid growing up in Massachusetts. At the age of 9 I boldly stated in my 4th grade autobiography that I wanted to grow up to be an interior designer and that I wanted to live in Florida. One of those things has come to be: I am an interior designer, but I live and run my studio in Manhattan. How did this dream come true? It was not a direct path!
After studying art history, working in a few galleries and arts organizations I ended up in fundraising. I found myself unfulfilled creatively, even as I was adjacent to creativity and creative-minded people. A change was in order and I took the leap. I left my unfulfilling job and found a great gig as a PA to a well-known art dealer in Manhattan. This led to my very first design internship for the inimitable David Netto. At the time I didn’t fully understand how lucky I was to have landed at his studio. But there I was, figuring out how to do my job and how to absorb as much knowledge as possible.

chapter 2
faking it
Truth be told: I had NO idea what I was doing! I’ve always been a fake-it-till-you-make-it believer. At the same time I enrolled in interior design courses at FIT. It was totally thrilling - I was working so hard and I couldn’t get enough. Small opportunities to help friends and acquaintances with their interior design began to present themselves and soon I made a connection with a friend from FIT who introduced me to Thom Filicia. There was my first full-time interior design job, and I still had SO much to learn. Luckily, in my previous job I had had to learn how to interface with board members & established heads of companies in a formal capacity. One of my job responsibilities in that past role was letter writing - the tone, using the proper language and many other communication skills are things that I truly learned on the job. There is nothing more important than clear & steady communication, something that I will forever strive to refine.
In the same way that we communicate with each other in words and gestures, our homes communicate something to those who enter, and to those who reside in them.

chapter 3
identifying pathways
My career took many more interesting turns - one of which led me to a fantastic opportunity working in retail store design for Club Monaco. The many connections I made in my early career were invaluable in paving the way for unique opportunities. The retail design world is so different from the residential experience I had, but it was very exciting as it involved travel and the opportunity to work with and learn about new materials, new types of applications, to challenge myself to translate and adapt what I already possessed in a new arena. The only “client” we presented to was our CEO. I was so nervous before my first concept presentation (for a flagship location in Georgetown). It went over swimmingly. The energy, effort and passion I had for design - and my true desire to be great at my job - came through.

chapter 4
creating balance
My family life was calling. The long hours of working in the corporate world was taking a toll. I made the decision to step back. It was oddly/not-oddly an easy decision to make, because it was obvious to me that it needed to happen. I didn’t really have a plan, but I did have a total sense of calm and knew I was making the right decision. Closing the chapter on working in the corporate world allowed me to create the space to launch into a new and most-challenging chapter: launching this business.
Isabella Patrick Interiors started as a few referrals from friends and family, and before I knew it had grown into what it is today. At first I was not prepared or equipped to acknowledge that this was really happening. It took much reflection and facing what was in front of me to put that stake in the ground as to say: I run a business. I run THIS business. And I made that happen.

chapter 5
awe-inspired
To this day I am in awe that I get to work and to do what I love: to create spaces, to create homes for our clients and to have their trust to do it. The most important thing is that our clients feel enveloped and supported by their homes, and that they feel proud of their homes and excited to share them with the people in their lives.
We design with the intention of giving our clients ease and joy in their daily lives. The homes we create are the support system for this.
Our homes are a portrait and a reflection of ourselves. We would be honored to help you create that home.
meet anna
Our senior designer, Anna, hails from the Pacific Northwest and brings invaluable knowledge, support and inspiration to our daily practice. She also brings many years in the interior design and furniture industry. Our daily work together is as much a collaboration as it is of Anna taking charge of key decisions that move our projects forward with ease and grace. I sleep well at night knowing that our clients are the best hands with Anna at the helm of each project.
our extended team
-
Our fractional COO Brooke is not only a ray of light, but also the person who helps ensure that our day to day operations are fine tuned, allowing us to seamlessly deliver an excellent and consistent client experience. Brooke’s background in interiors led her to realize that she has a greater passion for analyzing data vs. analyzing paint swatches. We’re so happy her journey led our paths to cross!
-
Our fractional CFO Bradford his team make managing our finances almost enjoyable. With an eye toward the success of our business, Bradford has been a key player in our business from nearly day one. I could not reconcile running this business without him (do you see the dad-joke here?)
